Gunnar's Bushwick skater era was universally acclaimed as iconic. Before TikTok took off, before Miami, before the world changed forever, there was Gunnar living the life in New York. One of the original Instagram influencers, Gunnar set the culinary and fashion trends around the world. Although Gunnar didn't know it at the time, jealousy among their peers was growing and a sinister plot was already being formed against them...

On the day of this shoot in 2018, Gunnar ran to the Jefferson L train stop with an Ikea tote full of curated vintage outfits and 'no-makeup' makeup. They rode the train to deep Bushwick, and at their stop got off and toted their looks to the photographer _____'s studio. The photographer was inspired for the set by Polaroid photos of his mother in her youth. All of the clothing is from Gunnar's personal vintage archive.

One of Gunnar's favorite shoes at the time, the ever-popular Doc Martens wingtip 'clown shoe.' The khaki green wool pants are vintage army surplus and were always perfect for braving icy New York winters.

One of the most haunting shots of the shoot, this floral vintage suit with shorts has always been one of Gunnar's favorite archive pieces. The way the light glimmers in Gunnar's eye along with that smoldering expression... Gunnar didn't know they were making history.

This shot was based on the photographer's mother in an old Polaroid picture. She was beautiful, and so is Gunnar. This red Ralph Lauren Polo shirt was a gift from Gunnar's first boyfriend who lived in Astoria, Queens. Gunnar has always loved receiving gifts, just saying.
